Hi, I will be moving to Sydney in a few months and would like to know the general office attire for women in the city during the different seasons, especially winter and summer, so I can bring the right clothes. THanks

  1. It's pretty much the same anywhere in the world, business casual. Warmer clothes for the winter and lighter clothes for the summer. Truth is your wardrobe is going to adjust once you see what the other women wear to work. Within a year or two over half of your clothes will be new. I wouldn't really worry about it too much, but if you want just visit the area of your new office at lunch and see what the other women are wearing. That should give you time to do a little shopping before your first day of work.

Good luck in your new job and home.

  2. If you'll be moving here in the beginning of winter, don't expect it to be very cold and so don't spend too much money on winter clothes. Just start with a good selection of simple and stylish mix-and-match clothes like:

    * some nice black/navy/brown long pants or knee length skirts,

    * fitted cotton blouses in pastel colours

    * some light wool or synthetic cardigans and stylish hip or waist length jackets.

In most offices the heating is so high that all the women walk around in light clothing like it's summer. You will want to take off your cardigan or jacket when you get to the office.
