All computers at work quit being able to view or log into our public website. This just happened 8/05/08. I can take a laptop from work home and it will work there. I have connected the laptop directly to our modem at work and it is still unable to view website. There are no blocked IP's on our office server or modem. We can view any other sites from the office including our other, different, site. Because of this we are unable to get email from our .com site. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

  1. i take it your not a newbi who perhaps hasnt cleared the browser cahce and cookies... assuming you know what your doing have you tried to ping the ip address of your html server? perhaps your companies DNS server is not working... try using the numeric IP address of in your browser's URL instead of the DNS name. If that works then you know you have a DNS server problem.

  2. Try going to proxify.com then enter your site's address there. If you can see it then it means the site (might have) blocked your IP address. Who is the webmaster? Ask him to see the .htaccess file in the root to see if your office's IP address is blocked.

piperj01 you are the newbie here. He's told you that the laptop from work can view the site when connected from home, this means it isn't a cache or cookie or even a computer problem.

The problem is that from their connection (eg their IP) they can't view the site and as a webmaster one way I know that I can achieve it  is by blocking their office IP (or the whole range) via the .htaccess file.
