Hi there,

I work in an office of 21 people. We have a proper summer party, but separate to this, we would like to have something fun one lunchtime, or later in the afternoon (lasting maybe 2 hours) to boost office morale.

Ideas so far have been a picnic locally, having someone come in to give people massages, wine tasting in the office.

We have a large space in our office. We are looking for something cheapish - but fun!! Can anyone suggest anything?

  1. Tropical

Your local dollar party store will have all the stuff you need. Grab a box of plastic leis, some fake palm trees, novelty sunglasses, some steel drum music or a Beach Boys CD, a couple beach towels thrown over chairs in the conference room, and you're done! Have everyone wear a Hawaiian shirt, and either have a potluck featuring ham and pineapples, or get it catered. You can limbo, hula hoop etc.

    Give out funny employee certificates...

Big Kahuna Award - For excellence in surfing the web

Jeff Gordon Award - For racing out the office the quickest

Old Yeller Award - For most faithful employee

Matador Award - For cutting thru all the bull

Spammie Award - For excellence in forwarding emails

    you get the idea right?

  2. Potluck picnic lunch with a round of office golf.  Get some kids plastic golf clubs and set up a small 3 par course.  And/or get some plastic bowling balls for a bowling competition - get teams together, have them name their teams, award trophies.  Fun goofy stuff like that is always appreciated.

You could take either one of the activities into the late afternoon for a happy hour round of golf or bowling - munchies and beer / wine for a perfect morale booster.

  3. Let everyone bring their favorite dish to share. With that dish have the recipe to give out.

  4. Have a potluck lunch. Everyone make a dish to share or bring in paper cups, plates, napkins, juice, etc.

  5. I would suggest to take it outside the office if you can- would be more fun to the employees than staying around there. how about a park for a picnic lunch and a game of volleyball or kickball! maybe a less physical game like croquet or horse shoes for the older folks? it's always nice to relax outdoors for a bit!

otherwise if staying in the office how about a theme party like luau or Mexican Fiesta- potluck different foods relating to the theme- fun games or a pinata- let the employees dress down for the event in beach wear. maybe if you have some extra money a few door prizes would be great- even if it's only a $5 gift card for everyone it's always nice.
