Official: FC Groningen sign Suk Hyun-Jun on a Bosman move – Dutch Eredivisie news
Reports from Euroborg Stadion confirm that FC Groningen have acquired the services of Korean teenage, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Suk-Hyun-Jun-c34295, on a Bosman move. The 19-year-old striker has penned down a contract with Pride of the North that runs until the summer of 2013.
The Korean teenage sensation is a product of Ajax Amsterdam fabled youth academy and started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2010/11 season, signing a one-year contract with the Amsterdammers. However, the Amsterdammers did not renew his
contract and the 19-year-old was rendered a free agent.
Henk Veldmate, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119 technical director, revealed that the young striker had many options but he preferred to play at Euroborg Stadion.
“He had several options, but here Suk thinks he can further his development. He understands Dutch quite well and speaks it a bit and that is remarkable for an Asian player”, Veldmate was quoted as saying to the media.
The club’s technical director then went on to admit that the promising youngster always gives the opponents a tough time and will certainly play an important part for his side in the upcoming season.
“He won't give the opposing defenders a moment's peace. He is difficult for opponents to play. He puts a lot of fight and energy into the game. Suk is the type of player who we expect, with his commitment, will appeal to our fans”, Veldmate concluded.
After signing a contract with the Green-White-Army, the youngster was delighted to remain active in the Dutch top flight. The striker went on to reveal that he was the subject of interest for many clubs but he chose Pride of the North to prolong his stay
in Netherlands.
“There have been several clubs who were interested, but I wanted to stay in the Netherlands”, Hyun-Jun said while talking to the media.
The outfit from Groningen finished fifth in the league table in the season ended and the Green-White-Army have set their sights on a UEFA Champions League berth for the upcoming season.
Should the Groningen outfit bring reinforcements to strengthen their back-line in the ongoing summer transfer market, they have a good chance of achieving their objectives for the 2011/12 campaign.
