Official: FC Porto’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 and Ruben Micael sign for Atletico Madrid in a €52 million deal
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 have confirmed that their star player Radamel Falcao, alongside Portuguese International Ruben Micael, will join Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in a whopping €52 million deal.
Los Colchoneros have been after Radamel Falcao ever since the departure of Sergio Aguero to Manchester City and it looks like they have finally landed their man along with a great midfielder in Ruben Micael.
Falcao had been on the radar of top clubs in Europe following a phenomenal season in front of goal. The forward was not only integral to his side’s haul of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Portuguese Super Cup, Portuguese Cup and UEAF Europa League but also
managed to notch an incredible 38 goals along the way.
With no shortage at the international level either, Falcao was touted with moves to Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea but the lowly Atletico Madrid were never in contention when the big guns came calling.
A transfer to Vicente Calderon was seen as an absurd idea only a few weeks ago, with Porto president Pinto da Costa labelling the potential move as a joke.
Falcao himself did not seem keen on the switch until recently and even penned a new deal to extend his future at the helm. The new contract saw his buyout clause rise to €45 million, a figure which Atletico could never have afforded until they sold their
inspirational attacker to Manchester City.
That is what the Mattress-Makers did and in turn received a hefty transfer fee, which is rumoured to be in the region of €35.6 million.
Armed with a large war-chest, the Indians had made Falcao their number one priority and started dishing out bids to land their man.
Their first offer of €35.6 million was rejected outright by their Portuguese counterparts, who deemed it too low for their prized asset. The Madrid outfit then stepped up their interest and tabled two player-plus-cash deals, first including the services
of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eduardo-Salvio-c12079 and the second one with Elias. However, both were also not accepted by the Dragao.
At the end, Atletico made a final offer of €52 million and it was surprisingly agreed upon by Porto and they also allowed Ruben Micael to be added in the negotiations.
After finally sorting out all the details, both the clubs announced that they had decided on the transfer and that the only thing blocking the move was the routine medical check-up.
Radamel Falcao and Ruben Micael have made history, becoming the most expensive deal made by the Portuguese champions.
While the duo both face new challenges in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, Falcao will be the only one donning the Atletico colours, as Micael will spend a season on loan to Real Zaragoza
