Including United’s rivals, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, a number of big European clubs were also interested in Young. But the 25-year-old snubbed the Merseyside club to join English Champions, Manchester United.
Moreover, Aston Villa’s newly-appointed manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish also hailed his outgoing player and has praised his contribution at the Villa Park.
McLeish told Aston Villa’s official website, “Ashley has made a terrific contribution for Villa over the past four-and-a-half seasons and everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future. He has become an important player in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 team during that
time and I'm sure he will be looking forward to this new challenge.”
Ashley Young was a revelation at Aston Villa in the recently concluded 2010/11 season and helped Aston Villa to finish in the top half of the Barclays Premier League standings. The 25-year-old, who came through the ranks of Watford, has been very successful
during his time at the Villa Park.
Young joined the Midlands club in January 2007 and went on to score 38 goals for the Villans in 190 appearances. The 25-year-old scored nine goals and directly assisted a further 14 in 39 appearances last season. Moreover, Young is Premier League’s second
most creative player after Cesc Fabregas as the Englishman has provided 44 assists in the past four seasons.
