Officials say Lexi Thompson and Karlin Beck to be main attraction at Prattville
RTJ Capitol Hill Golf Course Director of Public Relation, Bill Lang, has said that the Navistar LPGA Classic is going to pit world’s most talented female golfers against each other.
The Navistar LPGA Classic, which is set to start from September 20-23 at Prattville, Alabama, will be featuring a 144-player roster, but some of the contenders have already grabbed the media attention.
Lang said that the presence of Lexi Thompson will attract a large number of spectators this year as she is the defending champion of the upcoming tournament.
"we have the top two in the world coming who have been battling it out all year for the number one spot. Plus we have Lexi Thompson who made history last year as a 16-year-old, the youngest to ever win,” he
said.
The Director also heaped praise on Karlin Beck who is going to play her maiden professional event this week.
"Locally, Karlin Beck of Montgomery will play her first professional tournament at the course with the LPGA, so we're hoping she does really well".
Lang went on to say that the tournament will help LPGA further improve the image of the Tour. "The LPGA has come up with a slogan of,
It's different out there, and it is. These are people who are professional athletes who are amazing, but they are fun and they're interactive”.
In order to bring more excitement this year, the officials have decided to allow spectators to witness the tournament for free. However, fans will be encouraged to donate to the tournament’s charitable trust,
Wounded Warrior Project.
The roster for the tournament has been finalised, with top-10 contenders eager to do their best.
Some of the contenders include current world number one Yani Tseng, Natalie Gulbis, Suzann Pettersen, Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Michelle Wie, Katherine Hull, Maria Hjorth, Vicky Hurst, Karine Icher,
Amy Hung, Lorie Kane, Christina Kim, Sarah Kemp, Brittany Lang, Azahara Munoz, Angela Oh, Anna Nordqvist, Becky Morgan, Belen Mozo, Jane Park and Hee Young Park.
Yani Tseng, who has been trying to get back to her winning ways for the last few months, will be seeking to do her best at Prattville. Tseng currently ranks first in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, but her
below-average performance in most of the recent tournaments has become a major concern.
