I am playing baseball in 2009, and tryouts are in January, what could I do now to get ready for January. I am a good power hitting infielder, but I dont have a fast arm. I can easily hit 50-70 MPH pitches. I want to become a better power hitter in 2009.

  1. Just wanted to add that if your swinging a bat in a pool make sure it is a wiffle ball bat.

  2. go to the batting cages and hit off a tee..

for hitting work-outs build up your forearms and biceps, also make sure that you have a really strong core for the power transfer from your legs...speaking of which legs are one of the muscles used most in the baseball swing...make sure you stay back when you swing and don't lunge forward

I'm throwing low 80's going into 11th grade, and I'm definitely one of the harder throwers...

  3. high school pitchers pitch 75 to low 80s usually. and here and there you'll have a stud who can throw 85 and then maybe once a year you might have to face someone who can hit the 90's.

But hit off a tee. You have to hit the ball before you can hit it over. Line the ball up on your back leg for outside pitches and in front of your front leg for inside.

Also someone on here told me to swing a bat in a swimming pool. I guess the drag you create helps build muscle or something. But it couldn't hurt.  But dont worry about the speed changes youll adapt to them after a month or two.
