Will an offset driver fix my slice?

I'm looking at the:

Ping 5 Offset Driver

Cobra LD M Speed Offset Driver

Cleveland Ti Launcher Offset Driver

Anyone know which one is the best in their opinion or have any input on any of them?

  1. None of them will really fix your slice.  A slice is caused by sidespin on the ball which is the result of your club coming from outside the target line to inside of it with the face open.  Save yourself $400 and go to the range and develop a good repeating swing that comes from the inside and strikes the ball with the clubface square.

  2. Your question has always provided a diverse variety of responses.

From my own personal experiences, I've assembled several long shafted drivers, 48" to 50". It is my experience that an off-set driver head allows that extra, split second needed, due to the length and flex of the shaft, to return the club head to a square position at impact. I don't know why it wouldn't do that same thing with a regular length driver.

As far as the three drivers you're looking at, it's strictly a personal choice. What looks best to you?

  3. Ping G5 offset is by far the best...easiest to hit, probably the best deal, and has the best feel.

  4. First off, if you have a slice, you need to fix it with your swing and not the club.  Those offset drivers don't fix slices, all they do is promote a draw.  If your slicing from left to right then you have an out to inside swing.

Heres an awesome drill for you to try that can fix that slice......hopefully.

put a paperback book in your armpit of your right arm (if your a right handed golfer) and just do a normal swing with your driver, but don't let that book fall out from your armpit.  It keeps your right arm from flying out on you and keeps your swing more on path.

my golf coach had us do that in high school and it helped 90 percent of us hit straighter shots.

    good luck!

  5. I believe all three are good choices. I suggest you try them before making a decision. If you have played for a very long time with a slice then an offset driver is probably beneficial for you, however ,if you have not ,i think you should consult with your local pro and fix the swing to fix the slice.Good luck.
