I think every choice you make is based to some degree on chance. But there are cases when a little background research wouldn't hurt either.

It totally depends on the decision.  I would recommend thinking thru big decisions.  But, little things like what to do on a Saturday night, could be exciting and spontaneous.  Too much planning about little things can be a real drag.
