I have a little question to ask. School starts on September 3rd for me, and I am going to be a freshman (Well, I guess a freshwoman). Anyways, I am kinda wondering on what to expect, not like, what to expect during school, I am talking about what to expect peer wise. Is there anything I should know? What should I do and not be doing? People say High School is a time for change, is this true? Help please?

  1. yeah, you're right.. high school is a time for change [how the change turns out is up to you]

you'll see that in movies and tv shows that there is bullying, drugs, drinking, huge parties, s*x and that is exactly how high school is

i guess my advice to you is... to never lose sight of who you are, don't let others take advantage of you, make the right choices, don't worry too much about what others will think

  2. OK, so I read all the asnswers above, and I guess High School affects everyone in a different way.  I doubt anyone will bother you, but if anyone does, it will probably be a sophmore.  Juniors and seniors are usually more mature than that.  Focus on school first and play later.  I know you hear that from everyone and you'll be tempted to do it the other way around, but trust me you'll regret it if you don't pay attention.  That being said, when it comes to peers, just make sure to stay true to who you are, and like others have said, choose your friend wisely.  Have friends that are there to be your friends, not just to be popular.  After high school is over, I promise you it won't even matter if you were on the geek sqad or prom queen.  When it comes to boys, PLAY HARD TO GET!  I cannot stress that enough.  Although it won't matter after high school is done what your rep is, it will matter all through out your high school years, and kids can be cruel.  I admit, it is a double standard, but that is how it is.  If you respect yourself, others will respect you as well.  treat yourself as you would treat your very best friends.  And treat others how you want to be treated.

  3. High School is a major change. Unlike Jr High, you've got to grow up. Physical fights are immature and also dangerous (in the way that no one wants to get suspended and not be able to graduate in time). You can't act like a little crack monkey either because there is nothing more annoying to your almost adult peers than you running around and screaming and being annoying little butt heads. School, not friends, becomes your main priority if you want to succeed in life (unfortunately). People are mostly calmer, more gown up, and more open minded. Your social life should be a lot more fun and less drama filled, if you end up with the right people.

Don't worry! My sister is entering High School this year, too, and shes freaking out wondering what it'll be like. You have nothing to worry about as long as you know how to pick the right friends. High School is harder work, but more fun, better friends, and the teachers mostly don't treat you like little kids anymore. You'll love it!

  4. It is true....The change depends on what you want to change into.

Try to make friends that you can understand and can be yourslef around. Many people change into betaryers so watch out. Fit into your own cliques. Dont let what peers say get to you.

  5. high school isn't bad at all.

When I was a freshmen I was really nervous the first day, about making new friends, my classes... but in all honesty after the first day it was like any other day at school... boring and full of homework lol.

I don't even remember my first day in high school.

Of course things will change, but it's the time for thoes changes.

You will grow up a lot by the end.

Just be yourself, avoid drama and worry about school first!

Im in 11th grade now and ugh! I wish I would have focused mor eon school.

Hope this gives you some idea.

    Good luck!

  6. alright, this is coming from a freshmen herself. i started last friday so i know what i am talking about.

the upperclassmen DO NOT bother you. everyone says they do just to sike you out. really, there is nothing to worry about. i was crazy nervous on the first day. the only thing that i had trouble with was trying to figure out where i was going. other than that just enjoy it. you have plenty of time to get from class to class so feel free to stop and chat for a bit.

    :]

    it's definitely a new experience.

it's a time for a change, in a way of maturing. you have to depend on yourself a lot more.

  7. High School is a time for change, but its not a forced change a I need to change, its a I'm growing up and am going to like different things. The things you need to know about your peers are based on who you associate with. In general others will want you to skip school, theres nothing to do on a weekday at 11am thats worth all the hassle of trying to hide that you skipped, dealing with it if you get caught, making up what you missed, etc.. Then theres the usual, s*x, drugs & rock n roll, the last one is the only one you should be doing in high school.

  8. Yeah. I'm in the same boat over here. lol Yes. Freshwomen. :] Idk how it'll be.... but it'll sure be interesting for sure. I'm hoping my friends and I will stay friends through all of this. Good luck and congrats! :D

  9. every high school is different. for me, there was half the gossip of middle school but twice as much to gossip about, you get used to it, hearing who slept with who, what so-and-so did when they were trashed. it's all the same stuff.
