This chart seems to indicate that the banks are out of money. Or am I delusional?

Some of the banks are having a hard go at the moment, due to the mortgage crisis. Banks loaned out billions and billions of dollars to sub-prime (or shadey) home buyers and not surprisingly they defaulted (or couldn't pay back the loans).

But you don't have to worry about your finances or anything like that.

The government typically saves banks if they're really screwed. They've already pumped billions and billions of dollars into the banks and in a couple of years, the banks will be fine once again.
