im 15. today i went to register for school. before leaving i smoke a cigarette behind the garage (my mom smokes so i just take and smoke one of hers about once a week, stupid *** idea) and put the cigarette out on the side of the garage. i left with my grandmother, who i live with, to go register. after about an hour of registering we were driving home and fire trucks drove by our car. we got to our street and all the firetrucks were by my house. i was in complete shock. i started hyperventilating saying "no no no no ". this felt like a dream. i got there and ran over to one of the fire men saying it was my house and asking if my mom and older brother were ok cus they were in there. they were fine. just the back half of the garage was on fire so we need to get a new one. my mom saw the back starting to get on fire so she called 911. they put it out the fire before i got there and they were asking us how it could have possibly started. they said they found a cigarette near by and that

  1. It will be something you never forget.

The best scenario that could come out of this is the lesson learned from it.

If the guilt you carry builds up in you and makes you miserable to the point of it not being healthy then maybe the truth would be the next big step in growing up here.

No punishment you get will be worse that what you went through when you saw the fire trucks and realized what was happening because of your carelessness.

    Additional Comment:

It may of been just a garage but it was a part of your families home. It was careless and thoughtless of you to do it and to now want to keep it covered up because you seem to be feeling better about it since no one passed away in the fire.

You sound like a very selfish child and one that will probably do other things that are not right just because you might not get caught.

They were your mother's cigarettes, your mother knows it was not her that did it.

  2. Time to 'fess up! Not only to mom, but grams too. It isn't fair that your letting them blame her for something YOU did. It'll be hard, but you'll feel better once you step up and take your licks.

I hope you never pick up another cigarette after this experience!

  3. First of all the guilt will always be their to haunt you if you don't fess up to it. your family might be dissapionted but why live with it the rest of your life. don't let your mom take to blame for something you did just because she is ill!

  4. oh c**p dude...

    lol... thats fluxed up!!!

i can understand you feeling guilty... only telling her would make THAT go away really, and maybe offer to get a job to help pay for it.... otherwise... you'll just have to live with that... thank goodness nothing worse happened...

    anyhow...

    good luck!

  5. Well. If THIS doesn't make you stop smoking forever, nothing will. Confession is good for the soul. Just admit what you did and face the consequences. I'd say you've already been punished so whatever your mom does will be minor compared to the feeling you have now. LEARN.

  6. That is a really really tough situation and I can only imagine the guilt and worry you must be feeling.  However, the guilt will not go away until you fess up to being the one who started it.  There might be some consequences but at least you will know that you have a clear conscience.  Do you really want everyone to think that your mother is at fault for this situation?  No matter the situation, I always know that as long as I am honest and truthful, I will be able to sleep at night knowing that I didn't lie about something.  Ultimately it will be your decision to tell what really happened, and it will be hard, but I think you will feel a lot better if you are up front about it.   Good luck.

  7. you probably should confess to your Mom.  Accept the responsibility of what you have done. Then stay out of her smokes!!
