Oh my goodness you might care please read?

Question

My whole thing is yes i know there are tons more issues going on in the world that are deemed more important than chimpanzees in entertainment..i know that our country is suffering from high gas prices, a barely there economy, whether or not our approaching presendential election will make history..but I feel strongly about this, all of the problems that exist we are in the process of trying to fix, protest, or boycott right? But who is trying to fix, protest, or boycott, for these animals suffering in entertainment especially chimps?

This is why I came to y!a..to find out how I can help..to find out..who else cares. Not to be lectured and criticized about how unimportant my question is compared to the "bigger picture" our country.

But I guess all responses will be considered.

I think there are worse things happening than chimpanzees being put in the entertainment industry...

I'm not saying I don't care about chimpanzees. I just think that murder and genocide and rape are bigger issues. Plus, who wouldn't love a dancing chimpanzee? Honestly.

Looking for Hollywood petitions, and signing them, is a bit, fat waste of time. Find the actual people who are working with the chimps, or even better, the academics who study this kind of thing, and ask them what you can do to help. I can basically guarantee you they don't have enough people helping them out, and will have plenty for you to do, even from the U.S.

It's an admirable goal. You just need to talk to the right people. Do something about it, instead of doing something that will just make you feel better.

Have you just started studying Anthropology? Oh Boy. If you are committed to looking at the world for how it really is, then get used to the sadness now. You've got heaps more to come.

It is a tragedy, but that is how it goes. Until we can figure out how to be civilized humans, why waste your time trying to protect animals.

We are barbarians, we need to work on humanity to address this issue

when something like this bothers me (and it does) - i try to find a way to be involved.  there are many different anti animal cruelty organizations.  even if you can't afford to donate money, you may be able to volunteer, etc.

This question if it is one  doesnt belong in the anthropology section ... its about ethics ! Just because you only just discovered this animal rights issue doesnt mean other people didnt already know about it!
