Oh my gosh!! Melatonin doesn't even make me tired anymore :/

I'm so tired of it!!! Without sleeping meds I can't go to sleep til 3:00 am. With it, it still takes til 1:00 am!!! I'm so annoyed!! What's wrong with me? I take one melatonin 2 hours before I go to bed. I took one 4 hours ago and I'm wide awake.

I'm only 13. Do you know whats wrong with me?

  1. Melatonin will not knock you out.  You are using it wrong.

    May I suggest you stop taking any caffeine several hours prior to bed time.  

    Then take the melatonin and go to bed.

    The melatonin allows your brain to relax and then you will fall asleep.

    It is not good to take it and then not go to sleep.


  2. You have to stop taking melatonin about once out of every six weeks.  If you take it all the time, the effectiveness wears off.

    The best thing you can do though is try to wake up at the same time every morning and go to bed at the same time every night.  I know it's hard, but if can't get a good sleep schedule going now, you're really going to pay for it later on.  It's a very difficult habit to start.
