there was a website that popped up that said i had a lot of things that had infected my computer!!! it popped up randomly and the website didn't seem like any software that we have on our computer... and it said to run a bunch of programs and install stuff, with multiple waring messages popping up.

HOWEVER,

i scanned my computer with MY spy sweeper and trend micro antivirus. nothing came up (except my spy sweeper took 4 hours to get through half of the scan, and froze)

has this ever happened to you? is it a scam???

btw it was for trojan or something?

  1. Ok well then if your uncertain go scan your computer with windows live onecare safty scanner it does quit well but it aint all taht but get avg it is quit good and spyware blaster which kick spywares out hide and removes them they are both really good and top protections and are free :D

  2. Yes it is a scam. More accurately it was a trojan horse trying to get you to take the bait.

To be on the safe side, to make sure it hasn't gotten its foot in your door so to speak,  I would suggest that you download, update, and run a full system scan with the free versions of Superantispyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

    > Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

    > Malwarebytes Anti-Malware: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

  3. scam.

  4. It is a complete scam. All they want is your money. Don't worry, nothing's wrong with your computer.

  5. Probably a scam. These ads are awful, they try to scare you into clicking on them to find out if you have problems like they say they do, and then they may actually install virus and trojans and other malware on your computer. If they aren't outright malware, they are deceptive and try to sell you something you don't need. Do not click on the site, do not go there.

I know most of these are scams because I will get them sometimes and I'm on a Mac, and most of what they are warning about wouldn't bother a Mac.

  6. Scam.

But I would advise you to use AVG Free:

    http://free.avg.com/

And SpyBot S&D to be sure:

Also run a good firewall like Comodo:

  7. yes this is a scam, just ignore it. as for the freeze up, either get more ram/memory or Defrag your computer. and then try searching for viruses again.

if you don't know how to defrag here you go:

    How to Defrag a Computer

    Open the All Programs Menu

    Open the Accessories Menu

    Open the System Tools Menu

    Open the Disk Defragmenter

    Defrag Your Hard Drive
