I'm moving down to NSW soon for about a year( in QLD now) I learnt how to snow board when I was like 13 (16 now) in NZ but when I came back I started to skake board. (snow boarding: puting pressure on front of board. skake boarding: puting pressure on back) I don't really want to practice on my skate board coz next time I go to skate board I'll probably stack it and lean forward accidently. What would be a good way to learn how to snowboard again and where?

  1. Yeah to be honest the slopes is the only place to learn as, as you have said yourself skateboarding isent the same weight distribution wise. But it will help a bit with balance and id imagine as you have boarded before it wont take you long to get used to snowboarding again. Good luck with the riding.

  2. The slopes lol, If you do both enough you'll just get used to the transition.  Unless your muscle memory is pretty bad.

  3. Keep skating.  There are differences, but the basic concepts are the same.  If you are a decent skater, you shouldn't have a problem switching mind sets.

A good way to learn how to snowboard is to get up to the mountain and ride.  That is really the only way.

Skating is great for getting good at spinning and stuff.

Here's a real life example: in wakeboarding you have to lean back, and there are other differences between wakeboarding and snowboarding, but the first day I tried wakeboarding, I was jumping and doing 180s because I am a good snowboarder and decent skater.  You figure out pretty quickly and easily the differences, and don't forget them.
