Oh - what a wee little mascotty.?

Question

So I went shopping at the HBC Bay store - and I saw the Van 2010 stuff. Very exciting - some really awesome stuff.

Anyway, I stumble across three crackedup stuffed animals. Apparently their mascots.

I was like "What???". They're kind of amusing actually. I like Quatchi - awesomest mascot ever. It's after Sasquatch. Sasquatch = ultimate win.

But Sumi is stupid. I get it - beavers. Canada. Go hand in hand. But what's with the eagle/beaver cross? Beagle?

And why do they look so anime-ish? Is this some sort of commentary on the cultural make-up of Vancouver?

Which is your favourite or cutest?

For Canadians - do you think they 'represent' Canada and Vancouver very well?

I agree Sumi is kind of bizarre. "He wears the hat of the orca whale"??

They probably look anime-ish because that is the prevailing style for cutesy. I do find them cuter than no-anime mascots of Olympics past. But too much anime can be a bad thing as I do appreciate when they don't go that route.

Quatchi is the coolest ever.
