Oh wow.. got to thorw a baby shower in less than two weeks with no money?!?

how the he^^ am i going to pull this off? my BFFL is having a baby and she had planned with someone else to take careo f having this shower. i found out like 20 minutes ago that i need to do it. i been lookng for a job but no luck yet and i have like 4 dollars (*seriously*) wth am i supposed to do? should i call her and ask for her to help or borrow from my fam? umm, i'm just kinda like uuuuuummmm ok atm. any idea will help my stress levl go down loads.. thankx..

ps i got to give her a great one ya know . her first baby, husband just got back from iraq so she needs a good one.. thx

First take a deep breath!!!  It'll be ok!!!

1. call some friends/family that know her (and hers too) tell them you want to get together and help throw a surprise shower for her....(do it a different day than she thinks)

2.  delegate a job to each person.. one person does cake, one does decorations, one does invites etc. you get my idea.

3. have it at your house if you can (that'll make you the one in charge and maybe not have to do anything to pay out money..say you take the "mom to be" somewhere and then stop by your house for some "reason")

4. make the guest list up together so know one is missing

5. if the "dad to be" is just home try to work him and some of his friends in too so that he can feel included....help him to aclimate back into the "dad to be" so to speak...

ok, calm down and take a breather. you can ask her friends and family to help. no big deal. find someone in the family who is a really good cook, or if you a good cook then thats great. have them, or yourself, cook the food, or just cater at subway, real easy, real cheap. if you look in all the right places you can get alot of the stuff you need on sale. just ask someone real close to you and her for help. goodluck =)

ok you do not have to have diamond lined napkins in order for it to be a great baby shower. If you can accumulate a little bit of money(not much at all maybe 20 bucks or so) then go to your nearest dollar store where everything in the store is a dollar or less. They sell party things,so you can get (whatever the gender of the baby is or just white if you are not sure or maybe a neutral green color) napkins,paper plates,cups,streamers,a centerpiece,along with anything else you will need for it...most dollar stores even sell drinks like pop and juice and snacks of some sort so you can buy those there also. Also for the games you can use stuff around the house such as napkins and potatoes (diaper the baby fastest by putting the napkin on the potatoe like diapering a baby and using pins or toothpicks to hold the diapers on) you can get balloons at the dollar store and blow em up and have all the ladies at the shower places them between their legs and have a race of who can get to a certain point fastest without dropping or popping the balloon(if they pop or drop it they must start over or they are out) You can hard boil some eggs and have them paint faces or baby messages on them and what not. You can even print things off the internet like the invitations and place settings if you are doing that...and you can even get cards and other things that are printable and that will save loads of money...just go to your search engine and type in "printable baby shower items" and a list will pop up and you can take your choice.

In most cases the pretty printed paper plates with baby stuff on them cost more than plain colored plates, so what I did to save a little money was like instead of buying 6 packs of the printed plates that cost more buy 3 printed packs and 3 plain packs and when you stack them interchange the print then a plain one, same with cups and napkins. Umm some centerpieces could be like you taking her sonogram pictures and making copies of them at wal mart so they are size 4x6 and putting them in plain picture frames and setting them in various areas of the party area, it's also really fun for someone who might not have seen pictures of the baby before. Just get your mind cleared of everything set down with a notebook and pen and start thinking. It will all come to you and your friend will love you more for putting a lot of thought and effort into it even if it doesn't turn out to be the baby shower of the year lol. Good luck.

get the phone numbers from both sides and see if everyone is willing to make it a pot luck baby shower. Let them also know that you are VERY limited on money and really want to make it nice for her. I am sure they are all  just as excited about the coming of the baby as you are and are going to be willing to help....Good Luck!!
