Eight Belles got 2nd and then she collasped, broke both frount ankels and they had to youthenize her...on the track...man that's the biggest drag I've ever saw in awhile on derby day. I mean you know that horse was running and she (a philly) broke her ankels about halfway though and she still went on...

How can I cheer myself up?

  1. It's horrible, I feel so bad for her, but now she's in a better place where she no longer in pain and never will be again.

    RIP Eight Belles

  2. I cried too.  She was great.  Remember her great race and that she placed thus beating 18 other colts.

    She will be missed.

  3. It was a bittersweet ending.  Kudos to Big Brown, but Eight Belles will remain in our hearts.

FYI - it would be impossible for a horse to run half of a race with two broken ankles.  The horse broke her ankles at the wire, as reported.

  4. It's a bummer. Nothing we can about it. Just celebrate her spirit and energy.  Very inspiring horse.

  5. It's okay, i feel the same way too. Go online and try to learn more about her and her bloodlines. When barbaro died I did that and it made me learn more about him. Also make a collage of pictures of her and just try to remember her alive and happy and how she was so determined to come in second.
