Ohio Bobcats keep the Buffalo Bulls down
The 7-3 and first place in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Ohio Bobcats kicked the Buffalo Bulls while they were down, winning 34-17. The loss brings the Bulls record to a dismal 2-7 and sits them in second
last place in the East division of the conference.
Game Highlights
Bobcats senior quarterback Boo Jackson opened the scoring by a one yard touchdown run, to put the Bulls down 7-0 early. With just over three minutes left in the quarter, Jackson showed
he has excellent hands as well, as he caught a 26 yard pass from backup quarterback Phil Bates.
The Bobcats kept it rolling in the second quarter with running back Ryan Boykin rushing for a one yard touchdown which brought the score to 21-0 before the seven minute mark of the second quarter.
All hope was not lost for Buffalo though, because with just over three minutes left in the half, Bulls quarterback Alex Zordich completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Marcus Rivers. This
left the Bulls going into the half only down 21-7, and some positives to build on.
Whatever momentum Buffalo might have gathered going into the second half was lost in the third quarter when Boo Jackson threw for another Ohio touchdown, this time for 15 yards to Terrance McCrae. The point
after attempt failed, so the score was only 27-7 for the Bobcats. The only offence that Buffalo could muster up in the third quarter was a 34 yard field goal from senior A.J. Principe.
The fourth quarter started with some momentum being returned to the Bulls as they scored a touchdown with quarterback Zordich rushing in from six yards out. However, that would be the last score of the evening
for Buffalo, as Ohio put the game away with just over five minutes left. Jackson threw another 15 yard touchdown to the senior McCrae to bring the score to 34-17, which turned out to be the final score.
Game Breakdown
Bulls quarterback Alex Zordich threw for a grand total of 63 yards with six completions on 16 attempts. He did score his first touchdown of the season, but also threw two interceptions
to take his quarterback rating down to 66.2. Zordich was also the leading rusher for the team, gaining 59 yards on 20 carries and a rushing touchdown.
As for the Ohio Bobcats, quarterback Boo Jackson had 175 yards in the air, completing 13 of 18 attempts. He also threw for two touchdowns and had one interception. Bobcats’ running back Donte Harden was
the leading rusher, reaching 58 yards on eight carries.
