Question:

Ohio Child Support Offset from Rebate and Return?

My hubby was off of work for 2 months and fell behind on his child support. We had already filed our taxes before he was off of work and everything went through okay. We noticed an error on our return and filed an amended return. When it came time for the rebate check, ours was offset for his child support, which was no big deal we expected it since he was 2 months behind. With the additional that he has been paying each week, he is now down to less than $800.00 behind, but that should have been more than covered by the rebate check. When we got our amended return back it was short over $900.00 so I called the offset line and it says that there were 2 offsets that were collected.

They are now holding over $1800.00 for less than $800.00

Will we get our full amended return back after they realize that they held it twice?

  1. If they kept too much, you'll get it back eventually.  Keep making noise to them about it.

    Good luck.
