Ohio FAFSA Help??????

I am trying to fill out the form to get govt aid for college and i am independant and it says i HAVE to put my parents tax info all their earnings and social security numbers im on my own and they wont give me that info how do you get around that thanks for the help...

  1. If you cannot answer yes to the question, 'were you born before January 1, 1985, then you are considered 'dependent for education purposes.  You will need your parents tax information.

    Perhaps you need to explain to your parents that completing the FAFSA does not obligate them financially to paying for your schooling.


  2. What kind of parents won't give their tax information out to help their kid go to college. Ask them. If you don't or can't get it. Contact FAFSA and they can help you. Worst case scenario is you don't fill out a FAFSA but instead using private funds (even then you will need a co-signer if your credit is non existent or poor).

  3. You have to put your parents income information if you are under 24, not married, don't have kids and a few other things.  It doesn't matter if you don't live with them and aren't supported by them.  No way around it... this is the same for everyone.

    call your parents and get thier info.  It does not mean they have to help you pay, because they don't.
