Question:

Ohio Geology for 5th graders?

Tomorrow I am supposed to teach some 5th graders about Ohio geology. I am not a geologist, I am a naturalist, and an intern naturalist at that. I know very little about geology! I have an hour to talk to these kids. Around here we have Ohio Shale, Bedford Shale, and Berea Sandstone...just FYI. What should I cover in my hour-long basic geology lesson for 5th graders?

  1. First I am not a teacher of any sort, my degree is is computer engineering, but, o my spare time I do hunt for native American artifacts, one major geological formation in Ohio is flint ridge, it runs from around Youngstown down into Kentucky. I think it might be an interesting place to start. Maybe you can go check out a good book for reference form your local library.

  2. You learn from my slide show and teach about earthquakes and Tsunami. I am the person issued the warning 2 hours before Tsunami struck our coast. Please visit my web site. You can also type A.Ganapathy.India in Google and find some of my articles posted in Yahoo answers.
