Ohio State Buckeyes star Jared Sullinger ‘red flagged’ by league doctors – NBA Report
The hopes of becoming a top prospect in this year`s draft for Ohio State Buckeyes big man Jared Sullinger have been shattered after being red flagged by NBA Doctors.
Several sources notified ESPN.com on Monday that Sullinger went through a medical check up with the league and the doctors who supervised the examination were very concerned with Sullinger`s back.
After taking a look at the reports by the NBA, several team doctors have assessed the situation and have gone on to notify their respective organizations that Sullinger`s back issues can limit the amount of impact he would have as a player and could also shorten his professional career.
These recent findings will definitely put a bump for the 20 year old forward, who was projected to be one of the lottery picks this year.
Nonetheless Satch Sullinger (Jared`s father) considered to be a non issue;
"He had a bulging area that was due to his hamstring and quads being so tight, It pulled on his hip flexor and he's been taking care of it to loosen it. You can call it a red flag if you want. But it's tight hamstring and tight quads. He's been to doctors, he's doing yoga and deep tissue massage. The flexibility is helping take the pressure off the area.”
As the current projections stand, Jared would have been a possible top ten pick in the first round but this recent antagonizing news could worsen his chances and may even see him slip out of the first round.
Sullinger has already gone through workouts with New Orleans Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors. He also has three workouts scheduled with Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons while looking forward to the NBA Draft on June 28th.
Sullinger`s agent David Falk refused to comment on the situation, however the player in question, seemed agitated with the whole issue and echoed the idea that test `s cannot reveal how much of an impact he is going to have as a player.
“That's just me. I'm a basketball player. I know how to play with a basketball." Sullinger said;
In recent years there was a case of DeJuan Blair who was also red flagged by the NBA back in 2009 after tests revealed that he did not have ACL`s in both knees. The consequences of being red flagged saw Blair go from being a possible lottery pick to slipping entirely out of the first round.
