I want to tint my car's windows to 20% VLT. i understand that its illegal to tint the front side windows any more than 50% in Ohio. But i see people all the time driving around with dark windows all around. how do they get away with it? can't police pull them over for it?

  1. martincsm, Try calling an auto repair center in Ohio. http://www.autorepairshoplocator.com/Ohi... They can help you get on the right track. Try vistiting several places and compare what they say.

  2. yeah police can pull them over, and does. i have limo all around my car except the front windsheild. you just gotta try to roll your windows down when you see the police. I've never gotten pulled over but i know alot of people who have gotten tickets for it, but still keep the tint and pay the fine.

That's the law on tint for the state.  A lot of agencies don't enforce tint, which is a shame because it is a safety issue.  That is the reason for a lot of parking lot accidents, the driver can't see cars coming because of the tint and pulls out.

At 20% you are legal, be careful with the relectiveness of the tint though.  You don't want the mirrored sunglasses type.

Added:  As regards 'pay the fine and keep the tint', in most states first ticket is a fix it ticket.  If that gets signed off and the fine paid, and you get a second ticket, it's no longer a fix it ticket, it's now a moving violation.
