Oi! What do you think of the TV series The Tudors?

I don’t fink its very believable at all. I mean take that Jonathan Rhys Meyers bloke. He looks nuffink like Henry VIII. Even Ray Winstone made a more convincing Henry than him and I arf expected Ray to burst into ‘I’m Enry the Eighth I am’ every time he appeared on screen!

Even the sets and scenery don’t look right. I could swear I saw Anne Boleyn wearing Marks and Spencer knickers the other night………

It is unintentionally but hysterically funny - it's like a "Carry On" film. That sneering and grimacing little Irish f@rt Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a fabulous visual joke in himself since, in real life, King Henry VIII was 6 feet 2 inches tall in his socks! In the first series Henry's two sisters Mary and Margaret were combined into a kind of coquettish super-Margaret! Huh? Couldn't the budget stretch to pay an actress to play sister Mary I wonder? The only actor in the series that is any good at all is Maria Doyle Kennedy who plays Queen Katherine of Aragon; and she is actually very good indeed. But if you don't take it seriously and look upon it as a piece of hammy comedy there are worse ways to spend an hour I suppose.

Well, you learn a little something every day. Thanks for the correction man! I always thought Jonathan Rhys Meyers was Welsh and its turns out that he's an Irishman! I wonder who I am confusing him with. Anyway, thanks for enlightening me. Appreciated.

My family tapes it every time it's on but never watch it, it's pretty dumb really. I agree though, Henry the 8th should be fatfatfat!

Sir Alan....Even though he doesn't look like Henry V111 I do quite like JRM something about the eyes, but I thought you would have given a mention to your dear old dad Sid James when he played 'Madge' in Carry on Henry V111 with Barbara Windsor as Bettina daughter of the Earl of Bristol, the best Henry V111 ever, have another look:-
