Oil barrel????????

is oil actually sold by the barrel,

or every placed in a barrel, and sold to someone?

or is it just a unit of measurement?

  1. Its a unit of measure. Oil is usually transported in pipelines to ships, or trucks.

    Oil has very distinct grades of quality and has to be "cracked" into different fluids like gasoline, diesel, kerosene and elements to make plastics and oils, left offer is a sludge called tar.

    Most oil on the planet is bound with other materials to the extend, that you need more energy to crack it, then you ever get out of it.

    A barrel is equal to 42 gallons. A barrel of oil yileds about 25 gallons of gasoline.
