oil only has about 10 hours on it and the bike itself has only 40 hours on it. it still seems to be running ok, just thought it was odd.

  1. It may not have been broken in properly and gas is leaking past the rings down to the crankcase.

    Check the compression.

You'll get a better idea on how bad the rings are leaking with a cylinder "leak down" test.

Change the oil and smell it after each ride, to see how fast the oil gets contaminated with gas.

This will give you an idea on how soon you should get the engine looked at.

  2. It could be "running rich", change the oil and see if it helps.  If not, you might want to get the pistons checked out.  My car had this problem and after i changed the oil, i didn't smell it anymore.

  3. How is this a racing question

  4. It may be that the oil has mixed with the gas which could later cause a problem. I have had this problem with my car.You may want to get it check out immediatley. It could cause problems sooner than later.

  5. I am not an expert by any means but I do have a bike... mine was doing the same thing, oil was dripping and there was a smell of fuel.  Turns out for me I had 2 separate issues.  The petcock was busted so I was getting a fuel drip from the carburetor bowl.  Oil drip was totally unrelated to the fuel.  Look and see if you have a fuel line issue somewhere.  Good luck have fun!

  6. It probably has a leak.
