  1. might be a crack in the unit, what you think is motor oil is prolly, gear oil,not all outboards drain all the water when taken out of the lake, some have to be wintrized, like an inboard/outboard,

  2. If it has trim check the seals>Or the lower unit seal under the water pump>Or prop seal> Fill screws leaking> Carb float leaks dripping gas & oil out exhaust>Fuel line or fitting leaking> Have fun>

  3. Do you mean the water pick up holes?

If you do you most likely have a bad seal on the vertical shaft below the water pump.

  4. I don't believe you have oil injection on that motor so any oil would be lower unit oil. DO NOT USE TILL YOU FIND OUT

  5. the oil that passes out along with the water is unburned fuel residue.

2-cycle engines do not burn 100%  of their fuel intake. The exhaust housing is cooled by a double walled water jacket and by a fine spray of water mixing with the exhaust gases. The unburned oil leaves along with the tell tale water jet whose purpose is to indicate a working water pump. The oils slicks that you see on the water are the result of this unburned exhaust. That's why there's been a strong move to 4-cycle outboards.

  6. head gasket if its a two stroke engine

  7. i would have to say its comming from your lower unit . have you checked the level? or maybe is it 2 stroke oil . do you have to mix the gas & oil or is it injecked?
