Question:

Oil lines on Yamaha motors?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

One oil line leading to one motor and two oil lines leading to the other motor (two stroke, 135's) became disconnected. The motors were both severely damaged in the process. The mechanic's opinion is that the lines must have been pulled off somehow (maybe vandalism) due to the fact that the hose fittings were still tight and in place. Has anyone experienced this or heard of this happening. The insurance claim has been denied. They are citing mechanical failure - claiming the hoses came off due to vibration. Thanks for any input

  1. Good Afternoon,

Honestly, I havn't heard of many hoses like that coming off due to vibration. In fact, I've never heard of it period. But on the other hand, it is possible considering the fact that they are six-cylinder, two-stroke motors, and that's where your insurance claim comes in. Because it is plausible, there's basically nothing you in regards to your insurance except to fight it and/or try to settle for some damages. That's your best bet. I've dealt w/ many insurance companies in regards to damaged boats with a huge success rate, but when it comes to motors in that situation, I've learned that we'll never win. The closest thing to winning is settling.
