Question:

Oil pulling while on meds?

I want to start an "oil pulling" detox regimen. However, I take prescribed medications. Are there any known interactions? Is it safe to do an oil pull either way?

  1. It's safe either way, oil pulling doesn't have many "real" benefits unless you know something I don't. It can't physically remove toxin from your body through your mouth, but it can lead to better skin, hair and nails (due to the minuscule amount of oil you inevitably will swallow) and it does massage the gums. I actually did a speech on OP for one of my summer courses (the topic was health fads). Also, if you could theoretically pull toxins into oil through the mouth, then the material would have to be lipid-soluble. But there's no significant fatty tissue in the mouth to store them in...?

EDIT: If you want a good detox routine that actually will work, try a short juice fast. :)
