  1. I can only fill in part of the puzzle.

I think that oil is formed from plankton in the ocean that died and settled to the ocean floor. This was then covered by impervious rock strata and buried. Under the right conditions of temp (100-135°C) and pressue and lots of time (millions of years) this is converted to oil and natural gas.

Note: Oil came from the plankton in the oceans not the trees and plants. These formed coal.

  2. You did not ask if you want a creationest's view or an evolutionest's view. But Lots of animals trees bushes durning the flood about 65093 years ago coverered everything up and the pressure on this material turned it into coal and oil. Want prrof We can make coal with wood in a short time with just pressure and heat and wood or plant material and animals decomposing creating different kinds of oils. Know why You never get a core sample??? they don't to let you know they find fossils's of Dino and fish, or do they want you to know about the giat 8 foot clams not opened on top of places like MT. Everest (don't know for sure thats the mountain.
