Does anyone know how contact lenses (both disposible and RGPs) are affected when oil spatters when cooking?

  1. I cook all the time and fry a lot. I am so used to oil splatters that is second nature to close my eyes when oil starts to splatter. I can only think of rising your eye with cold water A.S.A.P. and get the contact out. Great question, you have me curious so that I have to research more about this.

  2. I would assume it's like anything else that you could get in your eye.  If you have disposal contacts, it's best to just throw it out.  Don't take chances.  I'm not sure if it would actually do anything to the material of the lens, but you don't want to get an infection.  RGPs are better at resisting other substances.  I would say take it out and make sure you disinfect it really well before wearing it again.
