Oil well on land that was willed to me?

my friend left me some land, the land has a oil well on it, he sold the miniral rights, but the pump is setting on the land he left me,do the oil company have to pay me for the well sitting on the land.

  3. Typically, the oil company would have leased the land being used for the operation from your friend. See if there was such a lease. If so, I would think another lease would have to be draw up.

    That being said, you really should contact a real estate attorney to see what can be done.

  4. What typically happens is there is a lease on the land and you receive a small stipend per unit of oil removed since the rights were sold.

    This land lease should be recorded somewhere at your county records office.

  5. they should seeing that it is your land.. but i would contact my lawyer.. but he did sell his rights.. so its kind of a bittersweet thing.. so get your lawyer on the phone
