  1. Hi zaphiradragon77,

HD DVD (Toshiba) vs Blu Ray (Sony).

The battle rages and it looks like consumers will have to face a dual format much like the dash R and plus R DVDs.

Samsung & LG already offer dual format machines and others will follow. This probably means both formats will survive.

Both use interactive menus but differences are – Blu-Ray capacity is 50Gb and HD-DVD is 30Gb. HD-DVD is region free while Blu-Ray is divided into three regions. (Figures Sony will try to stick it to the consumer) A disadvantage to HD-DVD is they are not all hard coated as are the Blu-Ray. HD-DVDs scratch as easily as regular DVDs while the Blu-Ray are more scratch resistant.

  2. Good question... if you have read the paper today then this has already come up...if you are a Toshiba fan..HD...If you are a Sony fan, Blu Ray...In my opinon both are terrific on a big screen...I have a 1080p Sony DVD player and it works xlnt...

  3. Blu ray is renting two to one at blockbuster and has been for some time. With PS3 being bluray also, I am going to say blu ray wins, the war is over.

  4. Blue-Ray, it is out selling HD-DVD on the players and the movies, Blockbuster and Netflix are both stocking and renting more Blue-Ray, 5 of the 7 major studios are going Blue-Ray and standard DVD only and not putting movies out on HD-DVD. So it looks like Blue-Ray is winning the HD war and in the near future, when there is only one format it is looking like it will be Blue-Ray.
