I've never really done my own laundry before...I know that for whites you can use bleach and that you can wash on the Hot/Cold cycle...but do the shirts have to be ALL white? Like, can I put in my t-shirts that are mostly white but have designs on them?

  1. if the designs are like ironed on then you can put them in

but if the actual fabric is coloured you cant.

  2. "Whites"  at my house are all light colors. So yes, you can bleach/wash all whites/light clothing together even if they have designs.

  3. Unless it's color safe bleach, you can't.

  4. You can wash white t-shirts with designson them in the laundry unless the label says not too. I've been washing that way for years with no problems. Just don't put too much bleach or the t-shirts start to disintegrate over time. Use a nice fabric softener in the rinse cycle to make your shirts softer. And use a "Bounce" sheet in the dryer to prevent static cling. Happy laundering!!!

  5. yeah.

its okay, i never did laundry.

but my mom is leaving for the first time for 10 days so i have to learn how to do laundry and dishes. =P

thank god we have a cleaning lady or else i'll have to clean the whole house!

  6. Personally, I just wash everything on cold that way I don't have to sort a thing. I was spoiled growing up I guess and never learned how to do laundry, lol. So washing everything on cold is how I do it now.

  7. well if the shirt has a big design on it then i suggest that you don;'t or it will get mest up.

  8. No you shouldn't. Also, I wouldn't recommend using bleach everytime for whites anyway. I only use bleach every few washes but use oxyclean regularly.

  9. You can wash white clothes with designs just as long as you turn the clothes inside out and it will be fine.

  10. First of all, you're not stupid.  Everyone has a first time doing laundry and it can be a little intimidating.  Click the link below for everything you wanted to know about laundry...and some.  After that, you'll be able to give laundry advice on Yahoo Answers!  :-}

  11. Yeah you can f only all white shows. But if a t is basically a different color, don't.

    good question, ur not stupid

  12. yeah definitely. It doesn't hurt to put in a variety of colors unless the clothing specifically says "wash with white colored clothing only" for instance, otherwise, it should be totally safe.

best answer? for the designs, if they're plastic material, it should be fine, if not, just turn it inside out.

  13. When I am using bleach with my whites I only do white underware, socks and shirts.

    Nothing else.

I don't want to chance bleaching out a design on my shirt.

  14. yes!  i do lights and darks.  lights, are pastels & whites, darks are jeans, and other dark colors.

    it saves you a hamper.

if you have something to bleach, do a spot treatment, and everything else will be good.

i suggest not to wash towels with dress clothes, like nylon, or other fine fabric.

    it gets all 'pilly'

    (:

  15. just read the labels on your clothing and follow this link, hope you have a good laundry expeirnce ;)

  16. not a dumb question. I would not use straight bleach. Use a detergent with bleach in it. And fine to put your shirts with designs in there too. But I would turn them inside out. It will help the design on the shirt last longer (not wash off)

  17. Yeah....but if you do mix the shirts, avoid the bleach or you'll ruin the designs, and bleed them onto other cloths.  Try a color safe bleach  and flip the shirts inside-out

  18. Mamadamus says, buy some color safe bleach, and turn your shirts inside out before washing. Mamadamus says you are not stupid. You are at least resourceful enough to look into it. Mamadamus says you should give yourself a pat on the back.

  19. Nope. Unless it's absolutely white (like a bath towel) you cannot bleach it. It will turn the colored parts funky colors. I usually put my bleached clothes (only white) in the washing machine on Warm/ Cold. No designs should get bleached. It's best to put them in a "light" color load without bleach.

  20. I would use color safe bleach to be safe.  At least until you get the hang of it.

I wash my socks White and white cotton tee's with towels & or sheets. dark colors, heavy fabrics like jeans need to be seperated from delicate like silky which you might need to hand wash. Read the labels is your best bet.

I've seen some guys come in the laundry room at my apt complex  and just dump the hamper in the washer without seperating the clothes. I mean they had jeans mixed with towels and their girlfriends underwear/bras etc. and they stuffed about 3 loads in one washer. I couldn't believe it. At least your trying. These guys had no clue. I sat there and laughed at them and they couldn't figure out what I was laughing at. Anyway,  I found this site below that might help. Good luck.

  21. I wouldn't.  Bleach bleaches out stains.  I would assume then, that it would also bleach out designs.  I would only use bleach on the things that are all white.

Also, when using bleach, make sure you have some water in the washer before you dump the bleach in.

    Good luck!

  22. You can, But I don't recommend it if It's an expensive shirt, and if it's not cotton NO!

They should have their own load.

    On warm.

No bleach, except colorsafe. And Oxi-clean works well too.

  23. bleach-- all whites only!

color safe bleach -- everything ok!!

Personally oxyclean works real well, removes all stains, brightens whites and colors!!!

  24. Bleach will lighten any color on white shirts.

Be safe and use color safe bleach

Or Oxiclean will whitten whites and brighten colors with no damaging effect as bleach does.

  25. well i'm christian so i'm not going to call you stupid it's ok everybody make mistakes and it's your first time so it's really ok!!!!!!!

  26. No prints. Put those in warm water with other colored cotton. Jeans in cold water. Good luck

Also you shouldn't use bleach on your whites everytime because it is really hard on the fabric.

Use it once a month for best results.

  27. if its never been washed, then dont put in like a

white shirt with a green design on it, or the green dye could go on ur white. but if its been washed before, then its safe.

  28. I bleach my husband's t-shirts that have colored designs on them and have never had a problem with fading or colors coming out.

  29. bleach will make all your clothes white. if you want to do all your laundry at one time use a color safe bleach like Clorox 2

  30. Check the tags before you use bleach. It should tell you instructions for warm or cold water also. You should wash with like colors and materials.

  31. you can but it'd need to be small or you'll fade it (logo, border ect.)
