  2. 1. You generally live under 3 levels of government. Federal---

      State--- and local. Like you live in The United States (federal)

       and in Virginia--(state) and in Southampton County (local).

       But if you lived in a town in Southampton and you may have

       to pay taxes, trash pick up or car registration, then you may

       have a 4th layer of government. It depends on where you

       live in the USA.

    2.THE major function of a political party is to get a person

          elected who will carry put the party's views and policies.

          So nominating and getting them elected are the 2 major

          jobs of a party.



    3. The 10th amendment of the US Constitution established

          what is referred to as the "Reserved Powers" or the

          powers states have. They are the powers over people

          getting married, divorced, education (schools), driving,

          the buying/selling of alcohol in the state.

    4. Education is not  qualification for being elected to office

         one may elect a moron, dummy, or a genius to office.If

         the people vote them in, the person was smart enough to

          be elected.

      5. The governor of the state calls out the National Guard.

         The National Guard use to be the state militia, or the local

          military.

       6. Local and state governments recieve money to operate

           from the Federal Gas Tax and grants from the Federal

           Government. The Federal Government in granting money

           generally gives 90% of the money with the state giving

           9% and local funds providing about 1%.
