Just read on the Tele website an update on the SBW affair, he has signed with the French Rugby side! What do you think will, or should, happen next? Will he come back to Australia to face the music, or thumb his nose at the NRL?

  1. No law in the land can force Money Bill Williams to play if he doesnt want to.

He's gonna thumb his nose at the NRL just like the NRL snubbed its nose at the Mighty Bears, and all over money.

You cant blame Money Bill though, the league has been all about money for about 10 years and finally a player has given the NRL a taste of its own medicine.

The game has gone to S**t.

    Money Bill dogged it

    The Bears got dogged.

Bring back my team NRL, you bunch of heartless Aholes

Sorry, i got sidetracked but i remain a loyal and passionate Bear.

  2. Good on you SBW

All i have to say is ITS YOUR LIFE DO WHAT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    PS    All blacks next?

  3. there is nothing the NRL can or will do, gallop is a puppet and the only certainty is that SBW wont be the last jump ship and head to Europe

  4. as a long time supporter of rugby league it saddens me to see a creep like sbw plying any sport, good ridance to the prima donna hope never to see him in league again.  ALL YOU BEARS SUPPORTERS CAN ONLY BLAME YOURSELVES ,THE REASON THEY WERE KICKED OUT WAS THAT YOU SUPPORTERS WERE ONLY THAT BY NAME AND NEVER SHOWED UP AT THE GAMES ,

  5. There is nothing that can be done in today's laws of the game. It may pay for the NRL to introduce CAREER contracts that can only be broken by mutual consent. Leading to penalties and fines imposed on contract breakers. these fines will need to be scaled to reflect the standing of the individual player and updated each year, this should also incorporate an incentive scheme based on loyalty and standing outside the salary cap. This would allow players an opportunity to change codes or leagues with mutual consent or pay their way out with the new contracts they have been offered. While each and every player has their own skill sets they nearly all have come through junior league programmes and therefore must either show loyalty or repay for the time and effort others have placed before them

  6. Peter G, you are a man after my own heart. There are not too many of us Bear supporters around now. Bring 'em back to Central Coast.

Now SBW has gone. I agree what can be done. They can have an injunction issued but it then has to be ratified in a French court. The French will not rubber stamp it, they will look at how it will be in French law. In many places in France it is still referred to as "jeux de treize", the game of 13. This is because in many parts of France league is still not accepted, it was actually banned under the Vichy government.

Based on this and the fact that the owner would have gone through the legalities beforehand, I could not see SBW backing down and going back to the Dogs. However, if he did come back who would play with him. Also all he would need are medical certificates to sit out the next four seasons, the Dogs would have to pay to sit on the sidelines taking up $450,000 a year of their salary cap. They couldn't be that stupid, could they?

  7. I am not sure. Legal proceedings in the Supreme Court today have allowed the supenoeas to be issued to his known addresses, family & colleagues.  They are also going to attempt to serve him in Toulon this weekend.  This means that the legalities can proceed without SBW being here. Potentially this could mean the seizure of property and goods and freezing of assets.

They can't make him play RL but they may be able to make it very difficult for him personally.  He may not be able to come back to Australia without risking legal action, which may even be arrest.  His big hope is that it will be too hard and too expensive for the NRL to chase him.

So it is going to be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.  Maybe he will get away with it - breach of contract.  Maybe he will get to play in France. Or maybe he have to sit out the next 4.5 years.

Edit: Yes, 'peter g', I agree with you about the (once) Mighty Bears. The NRL can fry in h**l!

  8. I can't knock Sonny Bill on this one. Ok, Ok.. I've heard all the uproar! The truth is.. Who else wouldn't take the money and run? Who? If I could go to work tomorrow, work half as hard, but get paid twice as much.. I'd be laughing!

The only reason why the NRL and the Dogs are blowing up is because the stand to loose a lot of money off Sonny's back.

Go Sonny.. Earn that money. Live your life. Once you're set.. I'd love to see you go around again.

  9. customer service fool u wanker.your mum is the only one that likes to be chained!u mus of been dropped on your head when u were born in  a long drop u piece of shiet. AT THE END OF THE DAY THE NRL,THE HATERS CANT DO NUTHING TO BRING SONNY BILL BACK.HE AINT A SLAVE TO THE GAME.GET OVER IT I DONT KNOW WHY U AUSSIES ARE MAKING A FUSS OVER IT HE AINT AUSTRALIAN.

  10. so SBW signed for 675000 he was making 500000 at the bulldogs not much difference but saying that his manager cant make money whilst he was playing nrl so what does his manager do tells him to go to union so i can make money of you so SBW does and taints his name forever
