Ok, here's the dumbest question of the day...?

I'm in the UK and want to call a friend in France, and the code is +33. But I don't have a "+" sign on my phone and when I dial just "33" (and then his number) it says number not recognised.

How do I call France? Surely I'm the dumbest person here today, but I can't figure it out.

you have to dial 00 - 33 then his number, nobody has a + on their phone

+ stands for 00. its 0033 then friends number
