  1. There's not really much between these two cameras. They have the same amount of MP and the same sized sensor, so image quality should be very similar.

The SD870 IS (Ixus 860 IS) has the advantage of a 28mm wide starting focal length, which would be useful at times. And it appears to be a reasonably good wide angle lens. It's main disadvantage is that it lacks an optical viewfinder, meaning you will always have to compose your shots with the LCD screen. That's why it has the larger LCD.

It also has a 'touch wheel' that apparantly is a bit fiddly to use at times.

The SD1100 (Ixus 80 IS) has an optical viewfinder (which really comes in handy sometimes) and it has a slightly smaller LCD. It also has a slightly faster lens at the tele end.

Other than that they are just about the same. If you think you will never need an optical viewfinder, then the SD870 IS makes a good choice, with the 28mm wide angle in it's favour.

If you can't live without the viewfinder, the SD1100 IS makes a good choice (plus it's available in various coloured bodies). I really prefer my cameras to have a viewfinder, though.

Both cameras have a battery rated at approx. 240 shots. Either one would be ok...check out the reviews below.
