I am about to get my second guitar

Im getting a ESP Viper 50

I know that the strings that come with it are generic strings

I just want to know of any really good guitar strings that could replace the generic

  1. It depends on what you like to play.. Judging by the fact that your'e getting an esp  I'm assuming metal.

    My favorite strings are Ernie Ball's, they're not too expensive and they give a nice tone.

    For that model, Ernie Ball will respond well and you can put .009 extra slinky. The neck should handle it without any truss rod adjustment.

    You are correct on what you say as the strings, even on Gibsons, are garbage. Having said that, if you put .008 super slinky, the neck might bow and cause fretting or buzzing.

    Stick with the .009. Good for fingering. Lighter than that will make your finger lazy and you will strength in the long run.

  3. I would recommend D'addario strings.  I have always used these on my acoustic and even my friend who plays an epiphone les paul uses these for his guitar.  This brand has different types for different purposes, look at them and decide which is best for you.  Dont use Ernie Ball!
