  1. Spain is great.........like one  person said, ski one day, hit the beach the next day, so much to see if you like historical sites etc.,

Bars/Restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.

The people are friendly, they love you to try and talk to them even if you get the lingo around your neck!

You are safe, odd things happen, just don't be too flashy in some cities, but generally you should have no trouble at all.

This note comes from a long time resident, 25 years+

  2. If you want to live here the beaurocracy will drive you nuts.

  3. most of Spain there is not enough fastfood, or little stores to buy hotdogs or doners, so you forced to eat relatively expensive (for me expensive = 5euro+ / person)

in some cities they have a club./bar closing time LAW just like in the US, in Barcelona its 5am, witch means you have to leave at 5am or find your self an underground club.. but at least you still can smoke inside

there are an unusual amount of scam artist roaming the streets, watch your stuff, and do not believe anything policeman with out uniform say to you (#1 scam).. but at least they not violent

clubs are far more expensive then most of the EU or US, a 6euro entrance counts as cheap, can get as high as 25 or even 35 / person

depending on region the police checks INTENSIVELY for drunk driving at freeway exits sat/sun mornings

other then that its all peachy

  4. In Catalonia for example, all things are a bit expensive.

  5. No. It's one of the safest countries in the world, they ski in winter, hit the beach in summer.

The only bad thing is, that the place is so great ,  too many foreigners come here to live.

  6. mmmm..... high unemployment.

  7. Nope, I had a nice time.  But I did enjoy other countries more.

  8. too many english. ...but maybe thats just here! Iin this region they out weigh th spanish

  9. Nope.  Dinner is late by American standards, though.  Around 10 pm.

Otherwise, lots to see and do.  Nice people.  Spanish is easy to learn.

  10. not really. it,s a nice place. I suppose Bullfighting, but then a lot of people like it.

  11. The regions of Spain is very different. I live in Andalusia in southern Spain and the way of living here is much more relaxed than in the north and it is much more sunny. I arrived to Spain for more than 6 years ago and I am still here, and have absolutely no ideas about moving back to Sweden.

  12. Pickpockets and scam artists.  The worst is Barcelona, one of the worst in the world for petty theivery, but as one person already noted, little violence.  Keep your eyes open and be alert, especially in crowds, on metros/subways, etc.

Things are getting more and more expensive for Americans, but probably not so much so for other Europeans.

Spain is one of the most beautiful and friendliest countries in the world.  Plan to do things their way.  Work with, not against the siesta...plan your time so that you know you won't wind up at some monument you really wanted to get into at 2:00, only to find out that it's closed for siesta.  Use the internet.  I found it to be an invaluable tool for exactly that.

Know that in some places, tapas are a great way to get a quick, cheap meal, and in others, they are not so available.  In Granada, we couldn't get tapas until after 7:00. when we needed to have already eaten.  In Madrid, we asked for tapas, but were usually given much larger (and of course more expensive) portions.  In Seville, tapas are available almost all day for about 2 - 3 Euros, and in Barcelona, don't expect to get off cheap if you sit on the Ramblas, but you can eat on the cheap at the Boqueria market.  When tapas aren't available, Bocadillos usually are, and are cheap, but pretty limited in variety.

    BUEN VIAJE!

  13. oh my god no i looooooove it there the food is health so  in Europe people are not so fat so if you are fat you are going to look even fatter than if you where in America.

  14. no nothing bad about Spain
