  1. fibreglass, my brother had a recurve pulley bow but swapped it for a shotgun unfortunatley. But the fibeglass ones can take more strain and look better. Wacth what your doing with it though, ours could go through  about two metres of compacted hay and through about 10 centimetres of wood.

  2. well with wood, if not properly treated, you run the risk of it warping due to moisture, which isnt that big of deal unless you desire the best accuracy, but fiberglass you dont have to worry about that, and also, fiberglass will retain its power over time because it doesnt change shape over time of extensive use, whereas wood will.

  3. Fiberglass, its a little lighter and stronger.

  4. For the average archer the fiberglass is a better investment.

    * Fiberglass is alot less sensitive to moisture than wood. If not properly cared for your investment will end up in the garbage with twisted limbs etc.

    * Wood has the tendency to lose more power in cold temps.

    * A good wood bow is more expensive than fiberglass.

    * If feel a need to use alot of gagets on a wood bow they're harder to adapt to it.

  5. In a lifetime of archery, I have never seen a fiberglass bow that I have liked. Most fiberglass bows are built to be used as a toy, not a true hunting bow or target bow. Get a good wooden recurve bow, and you will have something you can take pride and enjoyment in using. You will get a great more satisfaction with the  wooden bow.

  6. Fiberglass so its lighter, or wooden if you want it in a longterm use.

  7. well wood is more traditional looks and feels better but the fiberglass is lighter not original stronger but i dont think as flexible but i think fiberglass is stronger so if i were an archer shooting a recurve bow for accuracy and smoothness i would pick the wood bow but if i was hunting in all sorts of weather and needed a flatter trajectory and the thing with the fiberglass bows that is good is that there is no letoff which is better for hunting because the animal doesent see the fast 2nd half of the pull but otherwise letoff is better and can be found slightly in wood bows

  8. Fiberglass bows are usually youth bows or toy bows.  They're mass produced, making them cheaper at the expense of quality.  Most wood bows made today are fiberglass laminated wood as opposed to just pure wood.  They're much more durable, better made, they are more expensive however than pure fiberglass bows.

We have plenty of wood bows at the club that's been through a ton of abuse for about 20+ years, they were purchased slightly after the LA Olympics.  They're all still functional.

Fiberglass is actually not lighter than wood, if you measure the weight of the equipment for the same stiffness, the fiberglass would need to be a lot heavier than wood to reach the same poundage.  This reduces it's efficiency, more weight on the limbs, the slower the arrow.
