I CURRENTLY have:

1 Hifonics 4406 Amp (4-Channel, 55 W RMS @ 4-Ohms)

1 Hifonics 1206 D Amp (1-Channel, 450 W RMS @ 4-Ohms)

BUT I WANT TO UPGRADE TO THIS:

1 Hifonics 6406 Amp (4-Channel, 85 W RMS @ 4-Ohms)

1 Hifonics 1606 D Amp (1-Channel, 550 W RMS @ 4-Ohms)

AND I DO NOT want to change brands or models since they're all relatively same dimensions so it will make it easy to drill into the same holes on my amp rack and the cables all go connected the same, so it'll just make it a switch in, switch out process...

WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS:

Will I hear a noticeable difference in sound?

My speakers are rated at:

2 Components in the front (120 W RMS each)

2 Coaxials in the rear (100 W RMS each)

2 Small Coaxials in the far rear (80 W RMS each)

Subs rated at:

2 12" Subs (800 W RMS each)

  1. The Hifonics 6406 amp change might be worth it.  You'll definitely notice a difference in sound clarity, particularly at higher volume levels.

The sub amp change isn't worth it.  100W RMS increase won't even increase the sub output 1 dB.  If you're looking to increase your sub output dramatically, an amp change isn't even a consideration until you at least double your power (at which point you'll see a modest 3 dB increase.)

  2. your not going to know the difference if you only add 100 watts to you bass you need to add like 300 to 400 watt to really notice the difference i would not switch bass amps for only 100 more watts.  but you will notice  your highs and mids will sound a little louder and little better.
