  1. I would go directly through http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.do

There the best.  My wife and I loved it and cant wait to go again I was 29 and my wife was 26.  It was the best vacation we ever had.

  2. Out of Personal knowledge, I would say the best is either Princess, or Royal Caribbean.

Their basically equal, but RC is more suited for families. If you want a cheaper cruise, the Carnival is the way to go. The two basic ports would either be San Diego, CA or Vancouver, BC going to Western Mexico & Hawaii. An average Hawaii trip is about 12 days, and Western Mexico cruises barley last 5 days. The best area for a beginner cruise would be in the caribbean. I went there for my first (& only) cruise. Dates range between 2 - 14 days. The western ones are usually more basic as they typically visit Eastern Mexico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands & maybe in the Panama area. The Eastern Caribbean cruises tend to be more complex as they have many destinations to visit with many excursions. The basic hub would either be Miami, or Fort Lauderdale Florida. Depending on your booking (if you have a travel agent from the cruiseline) you will be all planned for a flight down there. Me & my Family booked with a Carnival travel agent & were flown from Vancouver to Florida, right after Christmas, planned in October. We were ultimatly surprised that we could even sit together, let alone get a flight. Pricing can vary, the classes go from Interior, Oceanview, Balcony, Suite, & maybe a high grand suite. We booked two Interior rooms, $3000 each, including airtravel & bus. This did not include the mandatory gratituity of $100 per person -_- . Another fact is on our Carnival cruise, your room key acts as your ID, & Credit Card (Gift shops etc.), so basically lose it & you cannot get back on the boat. A few plus' would be 24 Ice-Cream (self serve xD), 24 hr pizza, 2 story waterslide, & unlimited dinner servings (included in fare =P) ex. You can order 4 lobsters. But it really depends on what cruiseline you go one, but they typically feature the same amenities. Good luck with your planning & I hope this helps. PS. DO NOT try to plan it on your own if you want to go during spring break. Get a travel agent to fo the dirty work =P

  3. Princess.com will cover all of these cruises. They are not the cheapest, but have beautiful cabins, great food, and wonderful service.

  4. Just go to the cruise line web sites and click on their specials. Each cruise line has some specials listed and Carnival and Royal Caribbean have the best sites for finding specials. The "specials" link on Carnival's home web page is on the left side at the top. Royal Caribbean will have a link in red that say "Hot Deals".

Those are your best bets in addition to booking far in advance, like 9 to 12 months before you want to go.  The cruise lines always give the best price for advance bookings and the prices generally go up as the cruise date approaches.  You will probably find the lowest prices on Carnival's web site since they are the budget cruise line.  You can also save on your cruise by cruising out of San Francisco and driving to the port city.  You'll save airfare.  The downside of this is that your options for deals will be limited if you only consider one ports.   Your options would go up if you also considered LA and San Diego.  The SF port web site has a schedule of cruises leaving from there.
