  1. The fitter you are, before basic, the easier it will be.

But they do not start you out running 5 miles.

So if you are out of shape, you can still make it thru basic, because they work you into shape.

    So both can be true.

  2. I think the better word for it would be to "prepare" yourself for it. It is going to be very physically and mentally grueling.  You will be yelled at and subjected to intense challenges. Most can endure the physical easier. You'll be fine. Good luck to you and stay safe.

  3. Well there is no point in not getting ready for it that's just being lazy. If you are physically fit honestly it's not needed if you're not your definately going to wish you were in shape. I mean it's obvious if you can't run two miles then you better start getting in shape, if you can't do 50 push ups you better start getting in shape, if you can't stay clean, you better start getting used to it. if you got a smart mouth you better learn to keep your mouth shut. i would suggest getting ready for it but the choice is yours.

  4. i think that it's always a good idea to prepare yourself. in bct, you'll be doing a lot of running, arm, and ab workouts. on top of road marches with 20+ lbs ruck sacks for long distances.

check out the link i provided. it tells you the minimun you need to pass each portion of the PT test (aka APFT). in bct, you'll only need to get 50% to pass ... in AIT and afterwards, you'll need 60% to pass. The reps column, tells you how many you need to do ... the score column is the percentage.

for the sit-ups and push-ups, you have 2 minutes to get your minimum for you age group. for the 2 mile run, the time you have to complete it in is also depending on your age group.

hope this helps and good luck.
