Ok...here's some food for thought....

If we were told that there were aliens in existence, ones that could talk, fly UFOs, and come to Earth, do you think that there would be mass chaos? (I say this because most of us are in a false sense of security)

If we didn't know there intentions than I assume it would have just been a message or quick visit. In this case I don't think the world would stop turning. People have their own agendas and little green men won't change that. Of course there will be some people who freak out and jump out of windows... but people do that now.

A lot if not most would probably not believe  it unless a flying saucer parked in their backyards and even if the president himself admitted they were real. Unless the aliens actually invade all I can see is a mad rush by the world governments to establish a good relationship with the visitors. Overall, factories would keep going, people would still show up for their jobs, Osama Bin Laden will still be hiding in some cave, the election will go ahead, and you and me will still waste our time on Yahoo Answers. I am pretty sure there is not a biological switch in the human head that turns off reason when they see short green people. Its not like the real nut jobs will hear about it and start buying out all the canned food... they are all already living in holes preparing for 2012 lol

If the entire Vegan empire invaded though... that would be different.

I'm sure some people would panic, the same people who slam on their brakes when they enter the freeway.  There is absolutely nothing to be gained by freaking out during a crisis. When the crying and screaming stops, you still have to deal with the situation.  Frankly, if the aliens were advanced enough to land on earth, their weapons would be so efficient that they would kill us before we knew what hit us.  So there would be no reason for chaos other than the fact that people just like to hear themselves scream.

Absolute chaos.  It wouldn't mater if they were peaceful or drivin by destruction.  We can't even tolerate other cultures, religions, race's, or opinions.  Some could accept them but most would go crazy and want to destroy them even if they could destroy us with a single word.

No, people have been pretty much conditioned to accept the idea of extra terrestrial visitation as fact. We're bombarded with hollywood movies, books and interest in the subject. Mass panic, war and looting? Maybe a minority but not generally. If anything, I don't think people would know what to do.

It depends on the nature of the aliens. If they are hostile, that may be the case. If they are peaceful, then there may be more curiosity than hysteria (though naturally people may still be a little angry with the government for not divulging this information).

However to put this into context with reality it is highly unlikely that this is the case.

Since MOST human beings are idiots, I would say yes, there would be chaos. I bet that most aliens are NOT hostile. They are smart to stay away, because they know how most humans would react. It's like us walking into the midst a lion pride in Africa and saying "Hello kitty, wanna be friends"?

Chaos, well not exactly. People would just build temples and worship them, causing others to want to fight with them for doing so. While others would realize that that sort of thing is ridiculous.

There could be mass chaos but the threat would only be a worry if the aliens came intending to harm us. People would freak out but if the situation was controlled and gradually introduced to humans, we would eventually see that they could do mor good than harm.

Assuming that they came in peace, we could learn a lot from them about space travel and the universe. We haven't been able to overcome the problems of radiation, lack of atmosphere and lack of resources such as fuel to travel further than the edge of our galaxy and even thats unmanned. Aliens could save our planet or give us an alterative place to live because we've basically taken over earth and depleted her of the essential resources we need to survive.

Who knows what could happen if aliens found us. it hasn't happened yet and its not going to happen in the near future so why bother worrying about what you can't change.

sure there would be people that would literally flip out an d that is why the govt hasn't said much about what they found in 1947 and stuff. its just there are people in this world that are from very small places and their concept of stuff is far from alot of people and their brains could not take it and they would literally die and be useless from this information. its sad but that is why there is so much hush hush about all the stuff that went on long time agao. i am sure they have found them and they landed here and we have bodies of them they are in WPAFB or area 51 or the new area and not sure what its called. but you can be assured we've learned some stuff from them i think.

It would throw the religious zealots into turmoil...  There is a Human tendency to lash out at that which we do not understand - amplified and used by religions to subdue those of other faiths.  I say let us know!

Aliens do exist in all parts of the universe,we have no proof of their existence but one day we may get a signal from them but they will never come here and we will never meet one,

probably.  there's an awful lot of people who just like to worry.  keep in mind, just because we've just found out wouldn't mean that they just found us.  i mean, they could be thinking, "what a strange culture."

OH, you mean you think this could be real?  really?

keep in mind, if you took the space shuttle to the nearest star, it would take 175,000 years to get there.  nobody's coming visiting.  and we've not going star hopping.  ever.

on the other hand, if there was someone with a sufficiently advanced technology that they could get here, i'd be worried.  compared to them, we'd be little more than vermin, to be eradicated, before they took over some pretty nice realestate.
