Okay, what their going to do in the surgery is tighten my knee cap and strighten it out because I have a fold...He said that it's not major surgery or anything but they also want to explore my knee to see if there are any other problems...But their only doing this through scopes on each side of my knee cap..How long, or am I, going to be off my knee, or on crutches?? Cause I'm a freshmen and I don't want to miss the first day...But yet again I don't want to go on crutches...Because I did that last year at school....It's not very fun..

  1. my father just had his knee replaced and he was up walking in a few days with no crutches or anything. Good Luck to you.

  2. It depends on the dr. and what he is going to do.  You should be asking him these ?s

  3. I had ACL reconstruction surgery and I was walking after a month, but it could be different since you're having your knee cap worked on, they could put you in a full brace which you could walk, but your leg would be straight the whole time.  Depending on what they do though, you probably wont be 100% for at least 6-9 months.

  4. It really depends on how good of a doctor you have and how healthy you are. I had knee surgery in December on my right knee (had to have my knee cap released) and again in March on my left knee, and I was supposed to be on crutches for a couple of weeks and not be able to drive or walk on my own for a while. I ended up getting off my crutches and being able to drive less than a week after surgery. I wasn't in much pain at all. The worst part of surgery is not being able to move your knee around much while it's in the brace. Knee surgery really isn't as bad as it sounds. Trust me, you'll be thankful you had it.
