But...he's installed custom pipes, a hyper charger (carb. jetted also), and is throwing in two helmets (A skid lid, and a full). It's a 2005 Honda VTX 1300C. And he's started out with $8200, but after talking a little he says he'll take $7500. Good price? It has slightly over 5,000 miles.

  1. is it worth it to you ?thats all that matters

  2. I think it seems a bit high.  I just checked Craigslist in my area and found a 05 VTX 1300 for $6700 and it looks great.  Lots of chrome and extras, custom paint.

Best bet would be to check craigslist, cycle trader or e-Bay for other bikes in your area and then make your decision.   If you really want this one, then show him what you found and see if he will drop the price to match others.

He's getting rid of it for a reason, and he may take your offer if you show him that it's fair market price.

    Good luck.

  3. As been said, what he put on may not be what you want on it.  You can insure after-market parts, but no bank will count them in financing.  They go by the NADA book value.

  4. Don't take the helmets they won't fit you, you don't know if they have been dropped (and you won't necessarily be able to see if they have), for you they are worthless. Make sure you get the original equipment – I just looked up a hypercharger they are only $270-odd which seems expensive for a replacement airfilter – still it is your money.

  5. Accessories add very little to the used value. You just have to figure out if it's worth it to you.

  6. You NEVER get back in value what you add to a bike unless you find a buyer that just loves what you have done to it.Unless it's in outstanding shape i wouldn't give over book for it.But your the only that can decide that.If you really like it go for it.

  7. It sounds high to me. All those ornaments he has hung are there are so much junk as far as the value of the bike is concerned. Remember, the whole world is for sale if you are even a little patient. Offer 7 and move on.

  8. Another source is NADA online also which I just checked. Low retail is $5395.00 & Average retail is $7048.00.

I say so what about the custom pipes & hypercharger...that's what "he" wanted to put on the bike, but is it what "you" want on the bike? Very low miles (sure as heck didn't ride the thing at all). Your going to have to get a fresh oil change and I would take a close look at the tires too. Another thing is was it garaged, in a shed, outside with a cover???

I wouldn't offer him anymore than $6900.00. There are way to many other bikes out there for sale right now and you can stand to be pickey.

  9. Maddog is right on this one, the only thing that matters is if it is worth it to you.
